Definition:
Two lines of poetry that

are often rhyming.

Example:

True wit is nature to advantage dress'd;

What oft was thought, but ne'er so well express'd.

Significance:

Couplets allow poetry to be
organized by rhyming lines
which could make poems
that much more interesting.
